How do I authorize my computer to download past purchases?

I got a new ipod and I've been trying to download the past purchases into my music but it keeps telling me that I need to authorize my computer. I have no idea where to go to do so. Please Help!

in iTunes, choose authorize this computer from the store menu.

enter the Apple ID and password used to purchase the content.
