1st ipod shuffle won't charge anymore

i'm assuming my thin white very old ishuffle is the first generation. well if it is, none of my macs will see it, charge, or recognize it. it works fine when playing songs but can't linc to itunes and load new songs as well as charge. i have both lep and sno lep and same thing happens when plugging into both computers. nadda. is there a way to reset it possibly cause doesn't make sense that computer wont see it anymore
