I have to replace me Hard Drive, so I want to backup my whole iTunes library, including ratings and play counts.
If I go to File-->Library-->Export Library, all the song's play counts and ratings will be saved?...
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6)
get an external HD and copy the entire iTunes folder from <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music to it.

And when I put it back on the new hard drive, I should only put it under
<MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music
and then drag the songs to iTunes, and their play counts and ratings will be automatically added?

just launch iTunes and everything will be there.
Including the play counts and the ratings? Have you tried to do that by yourself?
Sorry that it sounds like i'm doubting you, It's just really critical for me, that why I keep asking about them specifically...

of course.
playcounts, ratings, playlists, original "date added", etc. - all this information is stored in the iTunes library file.
the iTunes library file is inside the iTunes folder so, as long as you move the entire iTunes folder, everything will be retained.
