3D Text for Pages & Keynote

3D Text for Pages and Keynote

I was thinking about a 3D text feature able to add on any text in Pages and Keynote.

Examples:

User uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file

How it would work: iOS

Highlight the text wanted to 3Dize, then tap on the i icon, scroll to the bottom where it says Text Options, then under Font selector box a new box would appear saying ā€œ3Dizeā€. Select and a list of option would appear of different types of 3D fonts.

How it would work: Mac OS X

Highlight the text wanted to 3Dize, then click on A (font), on the ā€œFontsā€ page there is T, T,T(color), and the page thing, then after the last one there would be the 3Dize (in 3D) feature. Click on it and a list of 3D text options would appear.

Included: Both

Option to change text from Chrome, Matte, Metallic, Glossy, Sun Shined, Mirrored, >broken glass - transition"

Soupy Twist,

HABSELIKEITEN for PRESIDENT

Was change included, or was that an extra?

Hi H,

If this is, as it appears, a suggestion for including a new feature in these applications, it would make more sense to send that request to Apple than to place it here, where the readers are users like yourself.

For the Mac applications, you'll find a link to Provide Pages Feedback and to Provide Keynote Feedback in the application menu of each application (ie. the Pages menu in Pages and the Keynote menu in Keynote). Messages sent via that channel go directly to Apple, are read, and where appropriate, are passed on to the development teams.

Regards,

Barry

It should be possible to implement this in Pages using "hooks" to OSX Core features.

However Apple has not done this and has made only minor changes to iWork for over 2 years now.

It has "other fish to fry".

You can only ask, but I strongly advise not to hold your breath waiting for it to be implemented.

I would ask for the more flexible approach of letting Pages manage and use "plug-ins" which would bypass the busy signal from Apple. Developers would soon fix what's missing and probably do a better job than Apple.

Sadly,

I have a copy of Microsoft Office for the Mac on my Mac's in addition to iWork. Microsoft supports 3D text and many other graphical editing features that iWork does not. I find myself switching between Keynote and PowerPoint constantly doing things in PowerPoint them copy and pasting them into Keynote (which I prefer for layout and presentation). In addition to features like 3D text, I also love MS/Office's image library with its thousands of clipart images and photos all licensed for use in presentations, articles, and on web sites.

It is really funny that I find myself using Pages and Word, Keynote and Powerpoint, and even Numbers and Excel to build my final products. I bought Photoshop but have never mastered the complexities of the product to produce graphic designs and text layouts. Photoshop was an expensive mistake for me. Awesome product but way too complex for me to learn.

Hey,

Thanks again, I've been playing with it for a bit. Incredibly EASY to learn and use (totally intuitive like good Mac software should be)! Plus amazing options. I can't believe the incredible number of options and control you have over the text, color, texture, shape, etc.

And did I say EASY TO LEARN and EASY TO USE?

Tell them to pay you.

I am running Keynote '09 and would love to work with 3D text, but I do not see an option in my fonts option (the big A) at the top right. I'm wondering if maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or if Keynote '09 doesn't have this option any longer.

In my fonts option, I have underline, strikethrough, text color, document color, and text shadow. Nothing else. What am I doing wrong or where is the option?

Thanks.
