Good microphone for loud guitar amp

Hi, I do think the guitar models are decent in GarageBand, but I really want to record my Marshall amp. It's a tube amp and sounds fantastic turned up pretty loud. I am using garage band on the iPad, and I wondered what mic would be a good choice. I would like to spend as little as possible for a quality mic that can handle high sound pressure levels. I suppose a USB mic would be the ideal, do I need a powered USB hub if plugging into an iPad? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Okay, there are three main types of mics to record amps. Condenser, dynamic (like shure sm57 or 58s), and ribbon. All of these you can find on, say, guitarcenter. They all come out as an XLR three-prong.

1) Get your mic (if you have Logic software, there is a guitar amp simulater that you can try out all three different kinds of mics on different amps, including a marshall)

2) Get an XLR to quarter inch cord (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Rapco-Horizon-HZ-Series-Cable-Female-XLR-to-Male-1-4 --336121-i1129103.gc) is just one of many options

3) Buy an iRig. Check out this app from iTunes, with a picture of the iRig. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amplitube-le/id373507300?mt=8

I'm really sure that if you mic your amp, and plug the mic into the iRig, it will show up on Garageband. However, the easiest thing to do is just use a Mac computer with garageband and plug your mic into an USB interface.
