How do I install iCloud on my PowerMac?

Requires iOS 5 on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2, or a Mac computer with OS X Lion or a PC with Windows Vista or Windows 7 (Outlook 2007 or 2010 recommended). Lion will run on Intel Macs only, so that puts PPC Macs out of the loop. The short answer is "No".

Some of iCloud, or at least MobileMe can be done a few other ways...

Which services are you speaking of btw?

I kind of doubt it though, since it's all tied up with later versions of many Apple APPs.

the sync engine is build into Lion. It lives in the menubar at login. .. It is no Web-feature. Its part of OSX.

And regarding PPC Macs : they are obsolete. When 10.7 is out next month, you should prepare for the very near moment that Apple will stop Leopard ppc support completely.

Buy a new Intel Mac. PPC is not worh it anymore.

PPC's are worth it. I'll keep my G5 also when I get a new machine.

That said, it's understandable Apple will not develop for Leopard or support it.

However, Mac users being as they are it's not unimaginable that some will hack together compatible software for the sync parts.

So now everybody can see how much more advanced Windows Vista was than OSX Leopard : it was iCloud ready !!

PPC Macs are not obsolete at all ... a dual cpu, or dual core G5 is still a very nice system for many things. Sure its old, but its defintely useful.

There is no reason Apple should neglect such systems. They should support most (or all?) of iClound back to 10.5.8 ... 10.7 has some nice features, but kinda lacks some other features and I have no idea why Apple is trying to turn Mac OS X into iOS. That's just dumb.

It does, just don't choose MobileMe/.mac as a choice...

Any tips on hooking up iCal to iCloud ?

You can only view iCal stuff on the iCloud site that was put there by a newer Mac/10.7.x or an iOS Device... no syncing.

Thank you thank you! My older MacBook (which I use as an extra machine at my weekend residence) could not access the Mail function anymore and when I logged onto the iCloud server, it wasn't grabbing pdf attachments (go figure). This solved my problem beautifully!!!!

Aqua Man, you really saved my behind. I have his perfectly great G5 Power Mac and I was in the dark about how to receive my mail (former MM member) and kept my older mail address. your directions you included last year helped a great deal.
