can't turn off loop region when recording

I want to record a MIDI region without looping. The loop box is unchecked but when I record, the region automatically defaults to loop. This is driving me nuts. Can this be set to not loop by default?

Sounds like a "MID Thru" issue. With the track header selected and the region selected hit "L" on your keyboard to toggle loop on or off for the selected region(s) as desired.

Now click on the background of the track (on the blank arrange area to deselect any region. In the Region Parameters box in the Inspector becomes the "MIDI Thru" area, where you can set various parameters (including loop) for regions you are about to record. Turn off Loop.

To clarify ;

The loop checkbox is unchecked before recording. When I hit record it automatically checks itself so the resulting region automatically loops after every time I record.

I want it to stay unchecked all the time.

I see there other threads which state the same thing. It seems to be a default now in Logic that wasn't there before and it cannot be changed.

Or can it ... ?

I'm not clear whether you tried my suggestion above or not?

Second, I'm not clear whether the loop box is unchecked with NO region in the Arrange selected... or whether there is a region in the Arrange selected. It makes a big difference as I tried to explain above. Please click on the background to deselect any region and make sure that "Loop" in the MIDI Thru Parameters is not ticked.
