I was cleaning my commuter yesterday with Isopropyl Alcohol as one of my mom's co-wokers said it was the way to clean he screen. After this happened I read that constant contact causes an LCD screen to become brittle to the extent it cracks. When should I replace my computer? When it shows sign of cracking or now?

The IPA would have evaporated very quickly so the amount of time it was in contact with the screen would have been quite short. If you only did it once and the screen doesn't look cloudy or damaged in some other way then you're probably ok. I wouldn't go to the expense of changing the computer or the screen unless there's real evidence of damage.

Yikes. I don't like the sound of that. Obviously you were given some very bad advice. I don't know of any way to clean up the screen and anything you try might make it even worse.
Personally, if the computer is still usable then I'd hang on to it and continue using it.

Ok, you used Isopropyl Alcohol on the screen but it hasn't cracked.
But you got some under the screen, meaning you used too much.
Just wait for it to dry, it will eventually.
Alcohol breaks up the human oils that creates smudges on the screen, your supposed to tab a little on a cloth and then wipe the oil away, then use a new clean spot and repeat, removing the oil onto the cloth as the alcohol evaporates fast.
No liquid is to get insdie the machine, especially the built in keyboard.
It took hours to evaporate and there's still blotchy spots on it.
So it won't suddenly crack month from now? Because that's what I'm worried about.

A month is a long time to worry about something that hasn't happened to anyone else here before. 😀
