Will OS v10.7 be compatible with my Mac Pro 1.1? It has two Xeon processors that Lion is advertised to be compatible with, yet I'm reading OS v10.7 is for the 64 bit kernel only. Of course, the 1.1 won't boot into 64 bit. Never understood why there was never a firmware update for that problem.

Lion is not limited to the 64-bit kernel. There is no firmware update to a 64-bit boot ROM because the old one is only able to support 32-bit. The model does fully run 64-bit software.

Got Xeon? It runs. All Mac Pro (tower) are included.

Gotta wonder why people ask, to throw out 2006 Mac Pro would throw out millions more people with less powerful systems, and which also have 32-bit kernel.
I appreciate all the responses. Helpful to know my Mac Pro has a little more life. I'm sure a 64 bit only OS is down the pike. Probably sooner than later. If these computers weren't so well made, it would be different. I'm planning on a Xeon 5345 transplant just in case.
