Jun 13, 2011 5:06 PM in response to avidgirlby b noir,Now everytime I try and open it, I get the error message "iTunes has stopped working" and the only option I have is to close the program.
Your Vista will have been recording some information about those ones.
Go into your Problem Reports and Solutions Control Panel, click on the Problem History, and look for iTunes problem reports that occur at the same time as those error messages. Open the iTunes problem reports and have a look through them. Do they all say pretty much the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here so we can have a look.

Could you check something further for me please? Is your QuickTime Player also currently failing to launch?

Jun 13, 2011 7:12 PM in response to b noirby avidgirl,Hi!
QuickTime opened fine. But I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again anyway. In-between I ran a registry cleaner and rebooted.
Thanks again for your help! It's greatly appreciated.

Jun 13, 2011 8:16 PM in response to avidgirlby b noir,Thanks again.
QuickTime module in the iTunes problem report, but QuickTime Player launches fine.
Doublechecking something from earlier:
creating a new user
iTunes didn't launch either in that new user account? Or was it that it did launch in the new user account, but the user-specific troubleshooting in the usual user account didn't get it launching again in the usual user account?

Jun 14, 2011 7:28 AM in response to b noirby avidgirl,AHHH! Figured it out!! When my problems started I was downloading some lectures from iTunes U. So this AM, I thought maybe some of those files had become corrupt. So, I did a search in my iTunes library .tmp files and I deleted them all. Now, iTunes works again!! Yaaa!! Am a very happy girl!!
Thanks so much, b noir, for taking the time to help me- I really appreciate it very much!!

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:
