Nov 10, 2011 10:07 AM in response to stuartfromirvineby JuliaFC,new iPhone 4 and iTunes stops working on my Windows 7(64). Searched communities high and dry. Emailed Apple, went to the Genius bar. They keep saying it's a Microsoft issue and they can't do anything. Have tried uninstalling, installing, formatting, new user, and all the "trick" fixes and nothing. When trying to Transfer purchases from my iPhone or adding music to my Library in iTunes, the error pops back up. Anyone? @b noir: you helped me with the installation Components error, could you please help us with this? Thanks!!!!

Nov 10, 2011 1:03 PM in response to avidgirlby 7heather,Uninstall Apple Quicktime player.
The error I received when iTunes kept crashing ("iTunes has stopped working") mentioned something about a "fault module Quicktime", so (after uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes to no effect) I uninstalled Quicktime and that fixed the problem. Now iTunes is running. Good luck everyone.
I can't believe no one has responded to your questions since this seems to be a pretty simple fix, at least for me. Hopefully this will last.

Nov 25, 2011 10:32 PM in response to avidgirlby theresa in lake oswego,I upgraded my home PC Desktop to Windows 7 earlier this year and had no trouble bringing over iTunes from my previous platform (Windows XP).
I recently returned home to the US from a work assignment out of the country and because my iTunes resides on my home PC desktop, I didn't open up iTunes for the past 6 weeks. During this time Apple released iTunes 10.5. When I returned home, the old version of iTunes was still working. However, when I upgraded to iTunes 10.5, iTunes stopped working. The error message: "iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have worked through the following knowlege bulletins (nothing has fixed my problem):
(a)" iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues"
(b) "iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins"
(c) "iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio"
(d) "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows vista or Windows 7"
(e) "iTunes for Windows: system restarts, blue screen, or quits unexpectedly when accessing iTunes Store"
the last bulletin (e), recommended ensuring that my drivers were up-to-date. So I also updated my drivers.
Lastly, I contacted iTunes Store Customer Support (although my problem isn't with the store, it is upgraded iTunes running on windows 7). They told me the issue was "outside (their) expertise" and recommended I look at this discussion board.
It seems that I am not alone in having this problem! Are there any experts out there who want to earn the undying gratitude of the technically challenged (or a few expert points?)
Thanks for listening,
Theresa
PS - someone recommended uninstalling Apple Quick Time Player. I don't have Quick Time Player.

Nov 27, 2011 8:45 PM in response to avidgirlby theresa in lake oswego,I've searched the community bulletin board and found the answer to my problem. Here is what WaKaDo said to do on another post:
Solution:
Make sure you are not connected to the internet and then open
itunes. Sync your phone and then enable the internet again.
Then stay connected to the internet and close your itunes and
reopen it. Bam problem solved.

This worked for me. Thanks WaKaDo!

Dec 1, 2011 9:22 PM in response to lynzwalesby Nephilim 2038,iTunes insta-crashing every time you launch it with an error in kernelbase.dll? Yup, me too.
How are you all getting these nicely formatted error messages? What I see in the event viewer is not as lovely.
Anyway, after uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, crying, etc, I took the hint from theresa in lake oswego, and disconnected my network connection. And then, presto, iTunes launched without a problem. I could not believe it.
Reenabled the network connection, and iTunes now launches every time.
I am utterly baffled. But it worked.

Dec 2, 2011 4:56 PM in response to avidgirlby Polarkev,Run as Administrator fixed it for me. Right mouse click desktop icon, run as Administrator->let it load, shut down iTunes and restart by just double clicking desktp icon.:) Good to Go:)

Dec 3, 2011 3:56 PM in response to avidgirlby shane290,Have been dealing with this for a month. "iTunes has stopped working" error message everytime I start iTunes while connected to the internet. Uninstalled, cleaned, reinstalled, only opened iTunes on Tuesdays with a full moon, you get the picture. Starting iTunes while offline, disabling Genius and then connecting to the internet allowed me to access iTunes without keeping my internet connection closed but still couldn't start iTunes while connected to the internet.
Finally tried starting iTunes by right clicking on the desktop icon and using "run as administrator," closing iTunes, and then oepning it via the standard routes. That's all it took. I even turned Genius back on (may not have actually ever been an issue). Also good to go!
I'm a bit stunned at how easy the fix was and I can't believe that Apple doesn't fix issue (although once you can't start iTunes without it crashing means that accessing updates need to be done manually) or suggest this as a fix (if they do, they aren't getting it out where it can be found).
Good Luck!
