Xcode download from Mac App Store Fails continuously. Any Ideas?

When I try to download Xcode from the Mac App Store (after purchasing) it always stalls at 269.57 MB.

I have cancelled and restarted this many times. Any ideas people?

known issue of xcode4 MAS purchases, A horrifieng number of the ( german ) reviews say there are issues in never completing the setup or to stall at some percentage.

To resolve : Open the downloaded package by right-cliking "show package contents", then run the installer from there, shall fix the issue for most people.

I have the exact same issue. Xcode download hangs at exactly 269.57 MB. When I check /Application Support/App Store it seems like an generic installer .pkg has been downloaded and then the download has stalled.

This has been happening for a few days, over multiple attempts. Tried changing DNS setting as per some other posts but makes no difference.

A fix for “An error occurred”

*Note Temp files are located at: ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore/

To fix the “An Error has occurred” perform the following:

1. Sign out of the Mac App Store (Store Menu -> Sign Out)
2. Quit the Mac App Store app
3. Delete anything underneath ~/Library/Application Support/AppStore/
4. Restart the Mac App Store app
5. Sign into the Mac App Store (Store Menu -> Sign In)

After signing back in, you should see your downloads start over.

It also would seem there is a debug menu you can do a safer alternative:

1. Open Terminal
2. Enter

defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true

3. Relaunch the AppStore
4. Choose the menu item Debug Menu -> Reset App
5. Choose the menu item Debug Menu -> Check for Available Downloads…

I can't even start the download... After a while I discovered that the whole package is available without the downloader app throug this link:

http://connect.apple.com

When you log in, you will have a menu on the right side. Go to "Developer Tools" and you will find it (around) the fourth item in the list of tools to download. It says version 4.1, i am not sure if this means 4.1.1 or not.

Just if you want an alternative solution.

EDIT: Oh, this version seems to be the one without the delta update for the iTunes error message.

The application could not be downloaded

The server gave an error during download: 403
