setting up an audio interface with logic 9

hey im still pretty new to this. i have a powerbook G4 with logic pro 9. i just got a steinberg CI1 usb audio interface which i was told would work with logic. (http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/hardware/ci1/ci1_start.html) im recording vocals and im having trouble with logic picking up any audio. ive installed the drivers and my mac has no problem discovering the interface. i went into logic and it intilized the core audio, and then i went to "prefrences" and set the audio input/output to the interface. i can hear myself with the headphones i connect to the interface and i can also hear the instrumental music coming from logic. The problem is logic wont pick up any of my vocals. I set the track to record enable and i still have nothing. Any help? Thanks!

oh and i tried it with garageband and it worked fine, so im pretty sure it has to do something with the setting on logic. any help would be appreciated!

Hey bud i was able to sort it quite easily in the end!

Ensure u have latest drivers installed!

Restart your mac! Ensure interface is plugged in

Load logic!

Click the + to add a new track:- select audio instrument!

Enable record and monitoring! Choose the channel you want to record from!

You may have to select your interface as your output if monitors are being used through the interface!

Hey presto!

Try downloading the latest driver from the Steinberg website for a start!

Then make sure you select + then add 'audio instrument' make you you enable recording and monitoring!

Are you plugging monitors into your CI1 or using built in speakers?

If you are using the ci1 to run your speakers ensure you have selected the outputs in general settings!

I hope this helps :-)

Good call on the driver, the peak light on the gain buttons work now, but still no sound comin thru. i think it might be the settings in the mixer, when i create the track it´s set to EVP88 Electrical Piano or the EXS24 Sampler wich i normally use. I have a MIDI Controller plugged in as well, but that shouldn´t be a problem i guess? :S So far just built in speakers, and im gonna use headpphones when it´s up and runnin .

Thanks for the help by the way!

Mine does that for my Midi but only if i set it as a midi file!

Try the other ones when u press the + its the middle one when i get on me mac i will screen shot for you!

I no longer use my CI2 but it was an arse to set up but when I did it was a good bit of kit!

Try recording and see if the sound it actually recording 'waves on the recorded piece' then you know if its ya output settings :-)
