We are adding additional storage to an existing xsan. Is there any advantage in terms of data protection to creating a new volume for the new storage instead of creating a new affinity tag for the storage pool and adding it to the existing volume?
From my reading of the docs, it looks like losing a LUN can destroy data on the rest of the storage pool, but shouldn't affect the data that is part of an affinity tag for a different storage pool. This would mean that the only extra protection a new volume would afford is an isolated metadata LUN.
Is this accurate?
