Only if the FindMyiPhone feature had already been setup on the iPod, wifi had been left on and some other conditions have been met.

No. Unless you had find my ipod activated on the ipod BEFORE it was stolen AND it is ON and it is connected to wi-fi AND it has not been restored. THEN you could find the registered address of the wi-fi router to which it was connected.
the sad part is we know who has it and we have talked to this person and told them just give it back this is sad if i could trace it we just go to her house and wait for it to ring this should be done on the ipods since they cost so much i could use my homeowners policy but i have a 500 deductible so not gonna happen that way
i have a warrantee if it gets messed up or if he dropped it never thought of theft from a friend coverage .
This can be done on ipods, IF you activate the feature before it was stolen.
Ipod will do what you want, but you would have to activate it.
If you have solid reason to believe that this person has the iPod, tell the police. If you can present some sort of concrete evidence, they can get a warrant to search the house, though whether they will do so for a theft of such low magnitude (relatively speaking) I don't know.
Otherwise, sorry, there's no way to trace the iPod.
