Using Photoshop Elements as a plug-in

I have Aperture 3 and Photoshop Elements 9 on my iMac. If I want to use some of the editing features in Elements I select Edit with Photoshop Elements in the Photos drop down menu in Aperture. Elements opens but the photo does not load into Elements for editing. A very large PSD file is created in Aperture. I can drag the PSD file into Elements but when I want to save it after I have edited in Elements the image saves as a jpeg in a directory that makes no sense to me. The (elements) edited file does not appear in the Aperture browser .

Main Question: What am I doing incorrectly that the file does not load into Elements

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

If you go into the export preferences, what do you have under External Editor Color Space

Some of these options elements doesn't recognise, but it should give you the option to convert (I just tried and if i don't convert the image doesn't open in elements, just a blank page, there is a don't remind me again so could be something here)

What happens if you try using TIFF format instead, just to test and see if you get the same result

Be careful of just dragging from Aperture into Elements, this only takes the preview image over, not the full photo

Thanks for the feedback but I have still had no success. I have tried resetting the Aperture colour profile for export to PSD. When that did not work I reset the colour profile in Elements to Apple and that did not work, I tried TIFF. Nothing seems to work. When I select EDIT IN ELEMENTS a PSD file is created and that is the file I drag. Am I then only getting a preview image of that file? My only option is to export the PSD to a different directory and then open it in Elements and then reimport it back to Aperture. In the end I will probably not bother as it is too difficult to organise my photos this way. On the plus side, because this is not working I am becoming more and more comfortable with Aperture and find less need to go to Elements.

Loukie,

Here is the solution...finally this fixed it for me...Someone else sent me this in another post...

It appears that I was using the wrong Photoshop Elements Editor....read this post...the first one I picked was not the correct one...the correct editor is buried in the folders...

I was using the wrong elements programme as the editor. go to the Adobe website for the fix. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4000591

HOpe this solves it for you...
