I have 10.6 now but will upgrade to 10.6.8 soon.

I would make that a priority if I were you as there are many security fixes included.

I installed 10.6.8 as a free download with Software Update.

Keep running Software Update until there's nothing else to install, then set it up to check daily for new anything new.

This is a different subject, but,

Is Mail Version 4.5 (1084) ok after june 30? A few weeks ago, the tech at Genius Bar put this version of mail back on my dock because iCloud email was not working conveniently and was not showing the contacts I use. I can access mail on my computer without having to log in to iCloud on the internet. How can I tell if it will work after June 30?  I'm not running Lion because it will disable my Microsoft Office 2004. I'm asking you because I didn't get a response yet in the other category.

I ran it and I now have more disk space than before!

I downloaded and ran it. Deleted more files!

I'd like to know if I can delete from my external HDD.

What's on the external? What are you using it for? Is that a clone, Time Machine, what ?

  • Gab Level 1 Level 1 (15 points)

Time Machine. It's external storage, not a clone. But I'll be saving a clone to it soon.

Time Machine isn't my strong point; I don't use it. I'm not sure how you'd remove specific files from TM. Take a look here. Of course, if you've removed every bit of MK from the startup volume, the next TM update will reflect that and be clean.

As far as I know it's not a good idea to merge a TM with a clone. They should go to separate partitions. And they should probably go to different externals. In case the one with the current TM dies on you or becomes corrupted, you still have the exernal with the clone as a redundant backup and vice versa.

That doesn't make a lot of sense?

Sorry, you downloaded and ran what exactly?

Never a good idea to have both your TM and clone on the same drive since drive failure is fairly common, then you lose everything. Drives are cheap insurance.

We are straying a long way from the topic of this thread.

I know the reason, mackeeper wont let you delete it till you pay, I would reccoment force quitting it and delete it, if it didnt delete restart your mac, and drag your mackeeper to the trash, Then dont "empty trash" hit "Secure empty trash" if you cant find that, do this: File>Option (key)> secure empty trash, that should delete it, sorry if that didnt work, but im 99% it will work
