When I create a new project in iMovie, I select a 16:9 format. Then when I go to burn the dvd in iDVD, I also select a 16:9 format. But... when the dvd burns, it shows as a 4:3 format. Cuts a lot of the project out... what am I doing wrong?
iMovie '11, Mac OS X (10.6.7)
I am using iDVD version 7.1.1 and am using quicktime 10.0
iDVD has several Themes that you can choose from. Some are 4:3 and some are 16:9. Could it be that you have selected a 4:3 theme?

I did choose the 16:9 theme for the porject... as a matter of fact, the preview in the iDVD theme had in the
bottom corner.... (view 19:9 format).
Then when I burned the dvd, it came out a 4:3.
My apologies for not understanding the basics of a VCR. The problem wasn't with the formatting at all. The VCR I use was set-up to run any dvd in a 4:3 format. I changed it's format and the format for the tv and now it works just fine.
I create the project in 16:9 format and I use iDVD in the 16:9 format but it shows in the 4:3 format
