iPod touch has the wrong time and date

My ipod touch has the wrong time and date on it, how do I get the right time and date on it?

I had this exact problem. When i looked closely, I saw that the day of the week, the date and the years going back were gray. However the years going forward were not. It allowed me to change the year first and then the other stuff became black too. At that point it let me change the time and date to the correct stuff.

I too had this problem. My ipod Touch 2nd gen had not been use for a while and the date reset to Dec 30 1969 at 5:00 because the internal charge was exhausted. To fix I went to the Settings/General/Date & Time. I couldn't change the Time until I had adjusted the date. I couldn't adjust the month or day (they would spin back to the date they were on) until I had dialed the year to the current year. Then I changed the month and day, then the time.
