Can we use multiple email signatures for different accounts?

I would love to know as well! This is the only thing stopping me from buying an iPhone. I hope they fix this in iOS 5!

Not only would it be "nice to have", but in the UK it's a legal requirement if one of your accounts if business. Email as a business communication comes under much the same laws as posted letters - and it is a legal requirement that certain information be included (Business Names Act IIRC).

I suggest we all go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html and leave feedback complaining that Apple is making it incredibly difficult to comply with the law on this.

No, you can't setup multiple email signatures. Apple hasn't made that option available.

I don't see multiple email signatures being listed there.

Recently transferred from webOS to iOS. I have an iPhone4 and an iPad2. I was a quite frankly shocked that iOS did not allow for multiple signatures linked to the sender's email account. This was a killer feature in webOS and, in my view, a must have given the number of email accounts most of us have for different types of recipients.

I have to say that this was my biggest disappointment so far in transferring over.

What surprises me is how many people have said this for how long and Apple is not reacting. I mean this is not even the Adobe flash player private war this is essential and the reason why I did not buy a iPhone.

Is there anything stopping you from using the keyboard shortcut feature? I prefer this as I have several signatures I like to use depending on if I am emailing someone new, someone I know, someone internal, a supplier, a contractor etc. I can just type ccintdef and it'll expand to my default internal signature, ccextdef and it'll be my default external signature which has my DDI and qualifications etc.

Well for me, the fact that it doesn't handle multi-line text is a stopper. Ie, I can't create a shortcut that will enter :

Tel: xxxxx xxxxxx, Fax xxxxx xxxxxx

Registered in England and Wales No xxxxxxx

Using a shortcut it ends up like this :

Yes, I even tried typing it into Notes (with returns) and copying/pasting it into the shortcut - returns get changes to spaces.

I agree with you that this is not a good solution. Besides your point this should simply work on all typical email functions like reply to someone. A standard reply signature based on the email account you received on or send signature default per send account with the choice of picking up another one signature. One may have several. Part of me posting here is to hope the powers to be at Apple in their wisdom realize that this is pretty much a standard productivity feature one expects. My old trusty Treo 680 which had an app store way back then and using a purchased app using Snapper mail had that feature. Apple decided that email is part of the iOS and they do not allow you to develop/buy a better app for it.

Apple clearly don't give a toss what users tell it - if they did then this would have been fixed a long time ago.

On the other hand they should read this, I'm glad I bought an iPad (refurb 1st gen) as using it has shown me just how crippled iOS is. Makes me think twice about getting locked into a contract with an iPhone. I'm a Treo user too (650), and I've been wondering what on earth to replace it with - and right now a locked down cripleware ridden iPhone that can't manage simple things like legal email isn't looking so attractive.

1) Apple do allow other mail clients, there are plenty in the app store.

2) Apple do listen to users whom use the proper channels such as the feedback tools, not the user support forums where they make unconstructive and unhelpful remarks about Apple not listening to them or other users and complaining about how iOS is rubbish all the time.

And I have reported this through the right channels - some time ago. I've also tried to have stuff fed back via visits to a Genius Bar* - but they can't/won't.

Since the feedback channels are write-only and give as much feedback on results as posting it to /dev/null, and there's no indication of it on any future feedback list, then all that's left is to raise it here. I know they do monitor some threads, else how would they know how to delete ones that criticise them ?

* As in, visit Genius Bar, ask how to do it, and when they tell me it's not supported ask them to feed back that it's required. I've done this several times with several different subjects and they've cleaimed every time that they have no such feedback channel - very odd.

Would apple let us know if they intend to address this issue regarding multiple email signatures for iPhones and iPads?

Will the new iPhone or iPad be able to have them?

I use an app called Quick Signature. It works great for this exact purpose.
