I had this same issue this morning. I went to launch my itunes and a window popped up telling me that the shortcut would no longer work properly and it asked if I wanted to delete the shortcut. Even after I tried to launch from my Start menu and not using the actual desktop shortcut!

I went to my CONTROL PANEL, into the PROGRAMS icon, found iTUNES, right clicked then selected REPAIR. It refreshed the data being sent from my computer to the server and it now works as it should. No problems.

Hope that helps!

I am having the same issue today with the error message: "The software required for this iPhone is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software".

I have done the "Repair" as you and KStyles513 suggested, and restarted my computer (did both procedures twice) but that did not work. I am still getting the same message. Today I get this message.

When the message appears, iTunes does open but when I click OK my iPhone dissappears from the Devices and I cannot see it again.

iTunes 10.5.2.11 is the version I currently have loaded. I'm using a Windows XP platform, all updates are current.

What can I do to fix this?
