My barnd New iPhone 4 THE speakers are not working
iPhone 4, iOS 4
If it helps: there is only one speaker. The other side is the microphone. See the pictures in the user guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPhone_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf
Please can some one help me
I also had this problem with my iphone 4,
what you need to do is check that your sound is up, if it does not work, try restoring the phone to see if it is software, if it is still a problem, take it to your local apple store where they will replace it for you for free if it is still under warranty
hope this helps 🙂
I tried evrythng i dnt knw what is wrng with this
I've the same problem too. i try everything but not working. looks like it's common problem, but the ear speakers working fine, i hope this not serious
I have the same problem, almost positive its a software problem.
The ringer works through the speaker, but when I go to play music, the iPod app doesnt even have a volume slider to move. If I have a bluetooth headset connected, it prompts me to send the audio either to "the headset" or to "Dock Connector" even though nothings connected to the dock connector. If I do have my iPhone docked, sound plays fine thorugh the dock, and when i unplug it, sound will begin to play like normal thought the speaker for about 3 seconds, then going silent. Any ideas?
(Earpiece, Headphones, Bluetooth Audio, and Dock speakers all work great, just not the internal speaker.)

I have the same problem, just out of curiosity is your flash working on the camera? As mine has stopped at the same time as the volume issue and i wondered if they were linked.
check the little bar on the left side near the top....can you see orange? ....flip it down.
It's not the ringer mute switch... -_-
My flash is still going....
I have the exact same problem. Recently even music through my earphones cuts off randomly. The only way I can get it back is to replug the earphone jack. Getting a bit sick of doing this repeatedly though

I just want to let IPHONE 4 users how I fixed a problem that even geniuses couldnt fix.
My iphone sudenly lost sound in the speaker, the ringer didnt work, notifications didnt work and I could not hear sound when I played a video on youtube, also no sound when I played music unless I plugged in earphones or a set of small speakers.
I tried all settings and nothing, I tried solutions on the trouble shooting advice from this section and still nothing and I saw posts of users with similar problems, tried hard reset, the 5 step suggestion and nothing worked.
Then after a complete reset of the iphone and sync of all apps etc nothing worked, then tonight my 12 year old girl asks to play on my iphone and
I say no audio ig you still want to play and then an epiphony, I asked hey remember when I tell you to mute the sound and she says yes sure and I asked if she just turned it off with the side slide button and she said most of the time but also that some of her games gave her a mute option so I asked her to go to her favorite game and see if she had left the sound off, well in the sync I had not chosen that game so she couldnt find it, we downloaded the game again and she turned the mut off and incredible SOUND started working, speaker was working, we called my iphone and it rang and key sounds were working and notifications as well, so it was the mute in the game that messed it all up.

Clean your Dock Connecter - your phone thinks its connected to a dock
Hi All,
I had this Sound / Speaker issue too on my iPhone 4S, with only Ringtone & Headphones working and no other sound coming despite several software hacks and solutions read on forums here. I managed to solve it today after reading online for a perfect solution.
This seems to be a fairly frequent problem amongst users who are using 3rd party (Cheap Chinese) dock connectors or chargers. There is some residue on the charging connector and hence it seems to be stuck in Dock/Headphone mode. I personally had this issue that only Ringtone and Headphone were working. I cleared some stuck particles from the dock connector in iPhone below and voila ! Sound works perfectly. Try it using a cotton bud / swab with removed cotton or I did it with inverted metal paper clip carefully avoiding to scrap and destroy the PCB board. (Other common solution was to remove water particles from headphone hole but I didnt have any)
All the best,
Cheers !
