Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Is there a way to have bookmark folders automatically collapsed in Safari when adding bookmarks? This would be a huge convenience in navigating to the right folder w/o having to deal with an eye chart of a folder tree.

My bookmark folders always show fully expanded whenever I try to add a bookmark. I add a bookmark by hitting the "+" on the Safari toolbar and then a window with "Type a name for the bookmark, and choose where to keep it." comes up with a drop-down option to select the folder or subfolder into which I want to add the bookmark. The drop-down option always show my fully expanded bookmark folder tree. I would like for it to just show my top-level folders only. The drop-down doesn't have any arrows to click, it just shows the fully expanded folder tree.

I hope this clarifies my problem.

I don't know if it's a Lion thing or what but with Safari 5.1.2 (that comes with Lion) when you click the + sign right next to the URL address the "Add this page to" window is displayed and is giving you the choice where to save your bookmark. Now if you click the dropdown list there, it will show ALL the bookmarks forlders you've setup in your Bookmark tree. And this tree is all EXPANDED, not collapsed as it would be much easier to work with because my tree is humongous!

Sooooo.... is there a way to have this bookmark tree collapsed by default?

Thanks 🙂

Myself as well...

I think it is a tremendous problem. Im my case it is extremelly important to manage, organize and sort favorites.

I am new to Mac and safari... and I spent a lot of time researching a solution for that thinking it was me that couldnt find this option. I like to use safari because of the "gestures". This is great. But when it comes to favorites, safari is a nightmare!!!

Also, I use to like the option in Firefox that we can have the leftside bar with the favorites and navigate to the links in the right. In safari the links are open in the full page. And then we need to come back to the favorite everytime.

I would be glad if someone could come out with good solution or suggestions how to deal with it in fafari.

Regards.

Miro
