Ipad email freeze and crash

Try deleting and recreating the account on your iPad.

It happens the same to me. I thinl this is a bug on this application. Wjile deleting emails, it just frozen and then I closed the application, but I couldn't even open properly the mail application. It opens frozen!!

What can I do?

I just couldn't reset my ipad, I received and error. Then, the whole iPad was frozen and after hours, when the battery energy had almost consumed, i could finally use it and then the problem dissapeared. I guess that happens only when you are deleting messages on the Mail application, I better don't do it anymore

Many thanks for this - it worked. Just made sure I backed up to ICloud first as I am still unsure of how Itunes works.

I've had this same problem for a while now and resetting and restoring doesn't fix it for me.

I originally noticed the problem on my 3GS, did all the resets and restores, still the same problem. Upgraded to a 4 and started fresh again (did not restore old setting) and still the same problem. I have updated to every new version of iOS as they have been available in the past year or so and no updates seem to help either.

It happens for me either when deleting or filing emails. I usually dont even notice it freezes until i look at my phone after some time, check mail, the app hangs for 10-15 seconds, it crashes, starts back up automatically and it shows some emails moved and some didn't (ex. I delete 10 emails, after the crash emails 1-7 deleted and emails 8-10 are still in my mailbox) It seems to happen more frequently when I try move multiple messages between folders quickly which leads me to believe its locking up as a result of the sync'ing.

If it matters, I have two active sync acounts setup. I have noticed the problem though even if I remove one of the accounts.

I really hope there is a real fix for this at some point because the standard reset and restore ain't cutting it in this case.

P.S. I realize this is the iPad forum and I am talking about my iPhone but after scouring the web about my issues this was the closest description to the problem I am having. Also, I suspect this is an issue with iOS and not hardware specific.

I have two gray shaded emails. If I try to open or delete either of those emails my mail shuts down. If I try to delete the emails directly above or below the shaded emails the mail also shuts down and the emails are still there when I reopen the mail app but I can open these messages without the mail shutting down. I have shutdown and restarted my ipad but that didn't help. What's going on? How can I fix this? And what is a shaded email?
