I have both the Apple in-ear as well as a set of in-ear from Shure that are fantastic. The Shures loop over the ear, thus stay in better if running or working out, and musically far outperform the Apple in-ears. However, they're also expensive, and this particular model (bought 3 years ago) doesn't have an on-cord volume control or mic.

There are definitely a lot of other options besides Apple.

I like the Apple In Ear Earphones with inline volume controls. I use the small sized insert; and they stay in my ear very well. I've never had a problem of the headphones falling out during a workout. And the headphones also do a great job of blocking out ambient noises.

The Monster has slightly more base, but the what I really notice about the Apple Earphone is that the strings and mid range are very sharp and clear.

Another thing I like about the Apple Brand Headphones is that I can go to an Apple Store to get them serviced.

I got the apple in ear dual driver version and they are great once you get the hang of finding which of the tips works best for your ear. Look at the stats. you will be hard pressed to find a dual driver set of headphone with sunch a wide Freq responce
