I connect my apple tv 2 to my iTunes library running on a Windows 7 64-bit pc. After a period of time from 15 minutes to 1 hour the apple tv disconnects while playing music. The only way to reconnect is to reboot the apple tv by disconnecting and then reconnecting the power input to the apple tv. What is the solution to this problem?

May well be issues on your network causing the problem. You may be suffering from interference, you could start by trying other wifi channels to eliminate the problem.
I realize this is a old post but I got a fix to anyone experiencing frequent disconnects between AppleTV and another device on your network..
Whichever device that has iTunes and has the music/movies stored on it, make sure the firewall on both Windows and your antivirus are disabled.
Go into your router settings and port forward TCP 3689 , UDP 5353. Your forwarding ports on the device that has iTunes on it, not the AppleTV.
Worked for me.. no more issues after that.

disabling windows firewall fixed it!
It works even without forwarding ports in router. I am wondering whether forwarding ports through firewall will allow me to turn firewall back on. How did you know which ports to forward?
