Assign sounds to keyboard

Anyone know how to assign sound files (AIFF) to a M-Audio keyboard? I have a whole list of special sound effects that I need to be able to play on the fly.

This is easy!

• Create a software instrument track
• load any instrument from the Sound Effects catagory
• click the save instrument button and give it a new name like "my sound effects" or something..
• open the musical typing window from the Window menu
• drag any sound from the loop browser or from the Finder on to a key.

voila!

Now the sound will play back via a MIDI keyboard, the Musical Typing Keyboard, etc.

You can also use this feature to build a custom drum kit for music creation.

enjoy!

Yes you can!!! Got it all working now. First you need
to import your AIF file and add it to the loop
library. Then follow the steps above and it all works!

You should not have to create apple loops out of your sounds just to import them into an instrument.

Dragging from three places should work:
1. The Finder - find sounds you like and simply drag them into the Musical Typing window
2. The iLife Media Browser - you can drag a folder of sounds you want to access into the media browser so that you can quickly find them when you want. You can drag the files right from the media browser into the instrument.
3. Apple Loops browser. You can drag Apple Loops (which are really just AIFF files) into the instrument.
