I'm trying to install Thomas Greiner's Safari extension "PanicButton". But every download link I find (at least on a site I trust, including the author's) when clicked just gives me a window filled with garbage - evidently the actual code.
How do I download or directly install the extension?
(Somehow I managed to do this on another Mac not too long ago!)

You'll have to contact the developer and tell him the programming on his Safari link needs severe fixing.
Any idea how to do so? I don't see an e-mail address or contact link at his web site. He's on Twitter, which I don't use.

It says at the top of this PanicButton page, that it doesn't support Safari, which I am on.

when you see the garbage - go to Safari's address bar & use Option-Enter, or drag the icon to the Safari downloads window
or at http://www.greinr.com/extensions/
Option-click the Safari extension, which will download it to your default downloads folder.
in either case -
Open the downloaded file - panicbutton.safariextz & Safari should install it for you.
Direct link = http://www.greinr.com/extensions/panicbutton/safari/panicbutton.safariextz which again, will need Option-clicking or you'll get the harmless garbage, which can be Option-Entered.
The server has the extension marked as plain text - something that Safari tries to display within the browser.
It was the Option-click method to download that was what I didn't know as a new convert from Windows/PC to Mac. Thanks!
PanicButton does indeed support Safari (on Windows as well as Mac).
I apologize for all the trouble my extension has caused. Apparently you guys have figured it out before I found this post here.
Anyway, I have now changed my server settings to return "application/octet-stream" (Apple's recommendation) instead of "text/plain" which should fix the problem.
