How do I "clear" my ipad before selling it?

I am selling my ipad1 to a friend - how do I "clear" it before handing it over? ie clear off my photos and clear my iCal data. Also, do I need to somehow take off all the apps that I put onto it before I sell it?

I would do one of two methods

Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings

This will wipe the device if you dont have a computer and bring it back to when you first got it (Connect to itunes graphic)

OR

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137

This method would allow you to backup your device and keep its data for future iPad / iOS devices

I hope this helps!

You can restore it to the original factory settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414.

This will take everything affiliated with your account off. Since apps are tied to the account and not the device, they will be wiped out as well - in fact, there is no way your friend could use your apps unless he/she uses the same iTunes account as you.
