Dynex Displayport to HDMI Adapter works Win7, not 10.6.7

Hey, all,

I have an interesting problem. I have a 27" iMac, 3.2GHz i3, I think mid-2010 release. It is running 10.6.7, and Windows 7 Pro 64. Windows is booted using BootCamp. I also have an older Apple 23" Cinema HD monitor. I bought a Dynex Displayport to HDMI adapter yesterday and hooked the 23" monitor to use a 2ndary display.

When I use OS X 10.6.7, the external monitor turns on but doesn't display. It is detected:

Displays:

iMac:

Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Built-In: Yes

Connection Type: DisplayPort

Cinema HD:

Resolution: 960 x 600

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Rotation: Supported

When I boot Windows 7 the 23" monitor works fine.

I've tried resetting the NVRAM, and that didn't help.

Anyone out there have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks!

Hey K T,

Thanks for the answer. I'll take a look at SwitchRez. Here's the output from System Profiler:

TI Radeon HD 5670:

Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 5670

Type: GPU

Bus: PCIe

PCIe Lane Width: x16

VRAM (Total): 512 MB

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x68c0

Revision ID: 0x0000

ROM Revision: 113-B9850K-133

EFI Driver Version: 01.00.416

Displays:

iMac:

Resolution: 2560 x 1440

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Built-In: Yes

Connection Type: DisplayPort

Cinema HD:

Resolution: 1920 x 1200

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Rotation: Supported

As you can see, it is detected, and if I press the "Gather Windows" button, I get a system preferences -> Displays pane to configure it.

Thanks!
