What is the cause of this ?You can't mix the ROMs from one Mac to another - they have code that is specific to each model. OS 7.0.1 may be old/generic enough not to know the differences between machines, but 7.5.3 is trying to take advantage of something in the IIfx ROM that the SE/30 can't interpret correctly, and so hangs while booting.

Jun 21, 2011 3:26 AM in response to JustSomeGuyby danieldumon,Thanks to "gamba"http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/os8_se30.html i managed to cure the SE/30 !
Vertical raster pattern when booting does not occur anymore (this was not simasimac, as some people may think) but due to a kind of not matching Rom IIfx to the mainboard. By hacking (resedit) this pattern is gone !

Jun 27, 2011 2:53 PM in response to danieldumonby Appaloosa mac man,Actually, you can swap ROM simms but not between those two models. That is why Just Some Old Guy qualified his comment about 7.1 being generic enough. ROM Simms from an SE/30 are sought after to customize other computers. I will have to look for a compatibility chart.

PS. The simm from the IIsi (and maybe the IIcx) is also on the list. Can't recall if they are the recipient machines or the donors.
