For months iTunes 4.3.3 download has been rejected by my computer. Why?
iTunes 4.3.3 is repeatedly rejected by my computer when it tries to update. There must be settings on my system that I need to change. Which ones?

iTunes 4.3.3 is repeatedly rejected by my computer when it tries to update. There must be settings on my system that I need to change. Which ones?

You probably have hijacked your iPad?
In the Mac OSX you have to make a small change to the "hosts" file, and then it will update to 4.3.3.
In Windows probably the same thing to do, but I am not sure; there are a lot of threads on this problem.

What is the exact wording of the error you get when trying to update your device?
In bold the error message reads "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "Dave's iPad." The network connection timed out." and in normal print. "Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
This is the message received on my laptop which is connected through our home wireless router. The router works just fine. So there must be settings on the laptop (an HP Pavilion) which need to be adjusted. However, many other updates, including itunes updates, have been DLed without problem.
This is a common error caused by many anti-virus and firewall programs.
Temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall programs, download the update, then re-enable to programs.
