Not Printing in Color

Hi Everyone and thanks for the help.

I am trying to print in color on a Ricoh MP C2050 printer. When I first installed the printer and print driver (which includes the Postscript module), printing worked just fine. At some point, it began printing in Grayscale and I do not know why. I should point out that I have a few Mac's in the house, some running 10.5 and one running 10.6, and this happens on all the Macs. The driver used by all of these Macs is the "Generic PostScript Printer".

I have narrowed down a few things. I have gone to the Web Interface of the printing system and found that the driver is listed as: "Generic PostScript Printer (grayscale, 2-sided printing)" - would seem to be the problem. But I cannot find a Color Postscript driver, nor do I know why this stopped working.

Finally, I have found that if, in the Print... dialog, I go to the "Color Matching" options and change the standard setting from "ColorSync" to "In Printer", I get color printing back again. Not sure how to make this the default setting if there is no proper fix.

Thanks again for any help.

Steve.

Try deleting the pritner from the Print & Fax system preference. Then add the printer again. If you have installed the Ricoh drivers, you should be able to choose the Ricoh driver. Make sure that you get the right driver. Ricoh has many similar models. The color models usually have a "C" before or after the model number.

If you don't have the Ricoh drivers installed, please download them from the Ricoh site and install them. That should allow you to print in color and have access to all the printer's capabilities.

Hi Matt,

Maybe you can help me out. I'm setting up a computer for a client trying to print to the Ricoh C2050 using an iMac running 10.7. I downloaded the only driver listed for 10.7 which apparently is a PS driver. I installed the printer using that driver and all that comes out is a bunch of pages with one line of text on them. I've been searching around the internet, but haven't run across much that helps. Except for this:

Download the following in this order and install from here:

http://www.linuxfoundation.org/colla...macosx/pxlmono

Ghostscript for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard)

Foomatic-RIP for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard)

pxlmono 1.6 for Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther) - Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard)

Once installed add your printer and use the following driver Ricoh Aficio MX C2500 PXL and you should have a fully working colour printer:User uploaded file

Good luck and enjoy.

Now this is a different operating system and a different printer they were trying to get to work. I'm a bit hesitant to try this method, but so far nothing else is working.

Your thoughts on the matter would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you!

Terry

That is an indiction that the PostScript module is not installed in the printer. For the best printing experience on a Mac, I would recommend adding the optional PostScript module. I do realize that is not always an option, however.

All the software on the pages you cite will work fine with OS X 10.7.
