Can OSX be installed on a tablet for this purpose?

I do not know if this is the place to ask this or not ~ any advice is welcome!

I need a tablet that has a USB Com port on it, able to run OSX.

There are a few PC tablets out there but I want one that runs strictly OSX. I want to connect a Sat phone to it as a dial-up modem for transmitting data from a remote location.

Are there any unix tablets or can osx be put on a tablet for my purpose? My phone is compatible with Windows 98 through win7 and OSX.

Thanks in advance.

In no particular order...

Typical solution here would be a WiFi-enabled satellite phone device or satellite modem adapter, and a MacBook Air or iPad device. BlueTooth- and USB-enabled satellite modems would also be an option for the MacBook Air.

iPad serial adapters are available for iPad, though these work only with specific applications; they're not generic connections.

USB-serial adapters are available and can operate with the MacBook Air.

Outside of custom-created hardware (basically, an Apple Mac system board and hardware rebuilt to meet your specific requirements), I'd not expect to find a tablet interface running Mac OS X. And the Mac OS X user interface isn't suited for fingers, in any case.

The hardware costs are usually a small hunk of the aggregate costs of running this setup, given the data transmission costs of a typical satellite link.
