DVI to VGA, how many pins?

Hi,

If I convert the DVI output from my MBP 2.3 GHz, DVI port to VGA, how many pins to I need the DVI connector to have?

I believe this MBP have a regular sized DVI port. The DVI port is approximately the size of a US quarter.

Frankly I'd rather convert DVI to HDMI, but my TV's HDMI port does not have a separate input for sound. Unless someone has a work around this obstacle.

Thanks

Hi AS,

Get what is called a DVI Dual Link "connector."

This is one way to do what you want:
