I have been having problems with my Formac Studio TVR as well. It will still work with iMovie 6 as an Analog to Digital converter, but the Studio TVR software seems to have difficulty ever since I upgraded my old iMac to 10.4. My formac ROM version is 1.0.7 which is one of the older "white" models purchased over 4 years ago. The software (v 3.2.0) is available from the Formac US site, but I think Formac as a US company may be gone. Have not received any reply to numerous emails that I have sent. In fact, when I was at MacWorld I walked to the Howard Street address that I found listed in online phonebooks. There wa a Formac logo on the door, but when I was able to get someone to open the door, they had no knowledge of Formac as a tentant of the building. It is now Olive media products. A very strange situation.
In short, I believe anyone with a Formac Studio TV/DV is on their own when it comes to any problems.
If anyone has a solution to tuning the TV function, please post the information.
A program called Vidi works with the product, but it imports your TV list, so if the Formac List is corrupted, Vidi cannot "tune" the TV portion. But, it will create a DV file of converted material that can be imported to iMovie. Vidi also has a radio function that allows you to use the Formac Studio as a radio receiver if you have an external antenna installed. It actually works!!
Did not intend this to be a long post. Good luck to all owners of the Formac Studio.
