When I try to update the Apple Tv, I recieve a message saying that the device cannot download the most recent update and that I should try again later. I have also had issues signing in to Netflix, but those issues seem to be unrelated.

I too am having the EXACT same issues. I am unable to use Netflix or update the software. Everything else seems to be working perfectly. Maybe something wrong with the netflix server and update server? Hope it gets fixed soon...

Similar problem. Cannot connect to Netflix with Apple TV2 (although iPhone App is working). Figured I would try restoring to factory settings, and it says it cannot download the software. I think I'll get a micro USB cable and try using my laptop/iTunes.
Just purchased my apple tv today from best but having the same issues. When it couldn't configure the date and time in the beginning i should've know something was wrong. Originally would'nt allow me to log into itunes but after i shared my acct on my pc, it allowed me to log in. But still can't update software or access itunes.
The reason you might not be able to connect to iTunes is because of the fact that you can't do a software update at all and are probably on a much older firmware version. I'm able to access iTunes but I'm assuming that I'm on a newer firmware than you since you JUST purchased the apple tv. Hopefully they get the update server fixed tomorrow... ::fingers crossed::

At least I know it's an Apple issue - my Wii logged into Netflix without a problem and I watched a movie. Fail harder Apple 🙂
Same problem for me. Waiting for Monday morning to hit California and hopefully it will be fixed.

Looks like someone forgot to upload (or accidentally deleted) the firmware .ipsw file from Akamai's caches. Pretty poor mistake in itself, but not noticing and leaving it broken for +1 day is incredible, weekend or no weekend!

I am in the exact same boat, cannot update nor install, and all links are broken.
Now it downloads, but says the update failed
I was able to get a copy of the 4.4 beta so I just put that on it for now via iTunes. I will change to 4.2.2 once I am able to though.
