Why is week calendar hd removed from appstore

Why is the app Week Calender removed from the Appstore?

As an user I feel quite frustrated that this great app is removed from the appstore. First I pay for this app and now it is removed, so there will be no future updates anymore. It is a shame Apple did this!

So please put it back in the Appstore, so I can receive future updates.

I have the same issue. Week Calendar will not run on my iPad 3G (iOS 5), but will run on another iPad 3G (iOS 5) with no SIM card.

The problem is not that the developer has violated Apple's UI policy.

1. Apple approved Week Calendar and made it available for purchase on iTunes.

2. Subsequent to that availability, I purchased Week Calendar HD and began using it on my iPad.

3. Week Calendar HD is then removed from iTunes.

4. Without notice, my "Apple approved and legally purchased" version of Week Calendar HD stops working.

It can't be a compatability issue since it is working on my other iPad, with iOS5 and 3G (but with SIM removed).

My frustration with this is that there is no whe to lodge a general complaint with Apple. Looks like I'll have to lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman here in Australia.

I updated my iPad 32 GB Wifi with iOS5, and now Week Calendar HD doesn't work at all. It starts up but after one or two seconds it closes automatically.

I hate this bad influence of Apple to want to control the world by uncertain rules. I bought the app also legal and without any refund, they just removed it from the Appstore. Let's all ask our money back on this app.

PTE66, the only problem with asking for our money back is that Apple will just take it from the developer.

The only thing we can do is to let as many people know that Apple has the ability to disable any App that a person purchases.

I've been going over the (Austrlian) Terms and Conditions and, despite Apple using terms such as "purchased" and "sales", Apple don't actually sell you the App. They license it to you. However, it appears that the license is between the user and the developer - not Apple unless Apple is the developer. I can find nothing in the Terms and Conditions or Usage Rules that would give Apple the legal authority to suspend your license to use a third-party app for violation of Apple's UI policy. That breach would be between the app developer and Apple, not the licensed user of the app.

It's late and I'm tired, but I will go through the Terms and Conditions again tomorrow.

If Apple read this, and I hope they do, perhaps they will explain how they can do this. Essentially, when Apple state that "all sales are final" they don't actually mean that all sales are final. At any point in time after you "license" an app, they can revoke your "license" to use that app despite the fact that you weren't the one who violated any agreement.

This is just a suggestion for anyone interested in lodging a complaint with Apple.

Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and lodge a complaint via the express lane. Or lodge a complaint in any way you want.

After briefly explaining your situation you can pose the following question ...

Is Apple doing something to prevent Week Calendar HD from running on my iPad? If so, why? Since the version of Week Calendar HD that I have installed on my iPad was approved by Apple, and since my purchase and use of that version met with, and continues to meet, the Usage Rules, and Terms and Conditions established by Apple, why am I prevented from running the app?

Hi,

Week Calendar HD was the main App in my daily work and I'm really desperately disappointed about Apple in this case.

The standard iOS 5 calender is still a "nightmare". Main features are still missing...

I just open a support ticket and hope they will change their mind and will allow downloading and using this App again.

Manfred

I used the express lane and wrote:

I want to complain I cannot use Week Calendar HD on my iPad since the introduction of iOS5. Apple has not the right to prevent me from working with an app I bought via the appstore. So Apple must make it possible for me to work with Week Calendar HD again. And since it is such a great app, it must be in the appstore again, so I can get updates on this app in the future.

The answer from Apple was not very satisfying, especially the last sentence :

I understand when you try to use the application Week Calendar HD with iOS 5 that it does not function.

This application is not yet compatible with iOS 5 and seems to be exhibiting this issue due to its incompatibility.

If there is not an update available for the application, the application's developer may be able to give you an estimated date for when they intend to create a version compatible with iOS 4. Here is their contact information:

Utilitap

http://www.utilitap.com/weekcalendarhd

Please note that it is not possible to downgrade your device to an older version of iOS.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding the iTunes Store or Mac App Store please feel free to contact us again. We love to help!

To be continued...

G'day PTE66,

Just keep in mind that Utilitap can't issue an upgrade to Week Calendar HD until they clear up whatever UI (user interface) issue they have with Apple. From what I understand of that issue, Apple is being very unfair.

However, since I did have the latest version of Week Calendar HD running on an iPad with iOS 5 installed - albeit without 3G and the ability to sync calendars, it would appear that any "compatibility" issues are not to do with the UI.

I have been in contact with Utilitap and they aren't giving me much to go on. They simply reply that Week Calendar HD is not yet comparable with iOS5.

I've been through about 5 Apple support people and not one of them has given me an answer as to whether Apple are doing something to prevent Week Calendar HD from launching in iOS5. They have avoided the question completely, and don't even acknowledge it. If they are not doing anything to prevent it from working, you would think they would make a very clear statement to that fact.

Since Utilitap aren't being very informative, we are probably not going to get anywhere.

Over the weekend I'll completely wipe my second iPad and see it I can get Week Calendar HD to work on it again. If I can get it to run, I'll video record it and upload it to YouTube for Apple to watch.
