Go to your browser on the top menu where theres is file, edit, view, history, etc. click over to view and the option for fullscreen mode is there. Hope this helps.

So you want the browser to take up the whole page. You will need to download and install a little utility called RightZoom. You can find it by Googling it. You can also enlarge a page by tapping Command +.
I've only had my iMac for six weeks, but I have a full screen on Safari. Check your display settings under System Preferences. Mine were 1920 x 1080 which is for HD video or something. I changed mine to 1344 x 756. Then, when you open Safari drag a corner of the browser so the window fills the screen. To boost your type size hit command +. That's it!
You've changed the resolution - taking it down a notch or two - which makes every pixel slightly larger (fewer pixels covering the same size real estate), so everything will appear larger, including the fonts. The default resolution is the preferred resolution and gives you the sharpest image of whatever it is you are looking at.
So, if a person does not want to take the optimal resolution down to enlarge everything, then dragging a window and/or using rkaufman's suggestion is much preferred.
And, for the OP: Macs are designed this way because a lot of people want the option of being able to have several windows open at the same time (which is not possible when you go into full screen). I sometimes have three different things open while I'm working - that is why I got a 27" screen so I can do that.
Of all the answers to this question that I've come across, this is the easiest and most direct answer. Why download apps, change resolution, or drag the screen when this one step does the trick??
THANK YOU!
You do realize this thread is close to 4 years old? Probably one or more OS versions later......
I'm sure you've found this by now though if not, here it is.
command+Shift+F should make it full screen any browser 🙂
4 years ago when the thread was created the newest OS was 10.7 which did not have this feature.
