Has any one had a malware install package called idospav . pkg download to their Mac?

Googling the thing produced a couple of sites mentioned it being another variant of the circulating trojan.

and, have you run Software Update lately to make sure you got the latest Security Update which also deals with it?

I apparently downloaded it and now have pulled everything I could find into the trash, but whenever Safari is open, I get a pop up that says "your computer is infected" and when I close it it sends me a **** page. There is a little shield on my top bar that I need to delete by can't drag it so don't know how. Think it is the brains of this outfit on my computer. Geez. HELP!

Yes I did. I have a MAC OS X 10.5.8, and the software requires 10.6. Can I download that and just run the software?

Are you referring to the security update from Apple? If so, no, it would not run on yours - it requires that you have the latest OS. Which, by the way, is only $29 if your Mac meets the system requirements.

I don't use Safari, but you might want to check add-ons and plug-ins while in Safari to see if there are any files there from the malware site.

Try Force Quit (Command-opt-Esc) and see if Mac Defender of Mac Security is present in the list. If so, slect it and click the blue Force Quit button
