So im recording screen captures from Jing Pro into final cut pro and when i view the captures NOT in fcp they look fine but when I view them in FCP and when i export them from FCP, the quality looks terrible, even when I put it at the highest possible quality (1280x1080).
any fixes?

MP4 is not an editing codec and will look bad. You need to convert to something like Apple Pro Res LT
Compressor should be able to convert the MP4s. Use the Pro Res LT preset.
Do the screen grabs have audio? If so make sure that audio is enabled and set to 48K 16bit Linear PCM.
Along with Christina's suggestions - you say that you are exporting them at hi rez? Well, depending on how your screen capture program is set, that will also make them look bad.

Open up Compressor, add your video, in the presets type in ProRes, it should narrow it down. Choose the prores LT preset, make sure in the audio that it is enabled and set to Linear PCM 48K...
Submit, and the resulting video should now look appropriate in FCP.
In FCP, add your video to a clean timeline, FCP should ask if you want to change your sequence setting to match, click YES.

Compressor is an application that came bundled in the Final Cut Studio package. It is normally used for transcoding video from one format into a variety of other available formats. You should find it in your Applications folder.
