Best upgrade method (FCS -> FCPX)?

I am currently running the latest Final Cut Studio, but now want to upgrade to Final Cut Pro X (+ Motion + Compressor). Questions:

How smooth is the upgrade process? Anyone encountering issues with installing right over FCS (relating to bugs, performance issues, driver conflicts, etc)? Or would I be better off by uninstalling the existing Final Cut Studio and then installing the latest versions of the individual apps? Thoughts and experiences most welcome!!!!

FPCX is not an upgrade. It is a stand alone application. You will not be able to open Final Cut Pro projects... From another thread I read, you could open you iMovie projects though....

Yes, I've been reading about the problems with FCPX elsewhere, mainly about some basic functionality that's missing like EDL import. But not being able to read an existing FCP project is a surprise. I guess despite the nifty new features and true 64-bit support, I'll table this purchase until they bring it up to par.
