Interesting. I was literally just about to make a "so what&#x27;s different" post. My Airport Extreme was the casualty of a lightning storm last week and I&#x27;ve been waiting on the new model to be released as it was rumored to be out soon. It looks as if the coverage should be significantly increased over the previous model. I have an airport express that I use to extend my wireless network but I might not actually need it anymore.

So are you saying its faster??  Or that the coverage area is larger, but with the same speed?  Or something else?

Coverage area should be larger with the higher output level on the g/n networks on both 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies.  The maximum potential throughput will be the same, however since you should theoretically get a stronger signal, actual throughput may increase depending on your application.
