Clam Down...Apple says missing features coming soon.

I am sorry that all the "pros" are over reacting to the release of FCPX. Instead of being civil they have been quite rude and dumb. If all you guys clam down a second and read the news you would know that almost every single missing pro feature for FCPX will become availible via update rather soon. Apple and several news outlets have made this very clear. SDI, EDL, XML. All those features are coming very soon. Maybe they should not have released it so soon, for that they might deserve a bit of scorn, but the stuid ranting needs to stop. You people are supposed to be professionals and you are acting like children.

Complain away as much as you want. Demand the features we need. But try doing so in a way that doesn't make you come off looking like and a@@.

I think the problem here is Apple released a Pro product like they would a new iPod or iLife product. Most of the pros here need a certain amount of work flow and feature ability. If Apple just simply released a trial version they would have gotten input from thousands of people.

Aperture 3 is a pro product... FCP 6 and 7 are pro products. But in the form they released this it is an iMovie Pro version.

You are always going to have people complaining about silly things... but I see a lot of legit complaints.

1: If the Software is critical to your job... which is what I assume "Pro" means then.... release more information. This can't be marketed like an iPad or iPhone.

2: Have a full set of video's possibly free.. explaining. Work arounds for common features like (Multi-Clips)

3: If you want a lot of good vibes... manage your customers expectations of the product.

Apple had all these pro editors saying it blew their socks off.... which fed expectations.

Specify who the target market is.... Pros in commercial and film or advanced home movies or prosumers.

Really, it said that in the press release? Not seeing it in the press release or anywhere else in the help info, product info, etc. So a citation on that would be nice. I really hope you are right, but I'm just not seeing anywhere that Apple is communicating that they are indeed going to address these serious short comings and I would for sure sleep better seeing it in writing from Apple that these problems are going to get fixed and soon.

Let's be very clear about one thing:

Apple has not had merely since the April meet-up in Las Vegas to get this release ready.

They've had since 2008 to get it ready.

It ain't ready.

1. No way to set the Scratch Disc. Which means there's no way to assign everything for a single project to go into one project folder. This makes porting a project to another facility a nightmare. It also makes media management after a project is finished virtually impossible. How do you delete all the files pertaining to a particular project if they're all mixed together with the files of every other project? Ridiculous.

2. No way to export OMF files. Q: How do you do audio sweetening? A: You can't.

3. No XML export options.

4. Where are the third party effects plug-ins? Hmmmmm?

5. No multi-cam support.

Look, I'm not complaining. I suspect all of these issues will be addressed. In fact, I'm not yet completely convinced that some of these things aren't already built into this release, but are just hidden from obvious view (obvious, at least, to those who knew where to look for them in the previous version). But with no explanation from Final Cut, and no tutorials available, we're left to spend the next week reading the effing manual.

As if we have time for that.

The missing features better come QUICKLY and AT NO COST because I am seething. This is clearly built on iMovie and should have been called iMovie X and not FCP X. The problems are well documented by now. Personally I NEED multiclip sequences and TIMECODE support for DSLR import. If the EOS plugin for FCP7 can do it why not FCPX ?

The Audio Sync feature ***** so badly it's worse than useless. 8 out of 10 SIMPLE sync tests failed (PluralEyes got them all spot on) and without the ability to use plugins like PluralEyes I can't even begin to edit my multi camera DSLR shoots.

It's back to making a living on FCP7 for a while yet it seems.....

Meanwhile I'd like my money back please Apple!!!

FCPX should have been called iMovieX and not be listed in the pro apps without functioning as a pro app - oh and now it doesn't read FCP7 project files....this is not an NLE. And why would i want to import iMovie files into FCPX??? as if pro's use iMovie - looks like FCP Studio will be the choice until Apple sorts this mess out and an appology would be nice for tricking their pro-users.

Not happy about this purchase and writing to support for an explanation, but if this "pro" app is going to remain iMovies big-brother I will ask for refund as I think many many ppl will.

Do an #FCPX search on Twitter and see all the unhappiness going around from the people making a living from editing in professional NLE FCP7
