in the spotlight search for activity monitor and check all you processes as see if there are any hidden processes running that might be the cause of the heating
As with most heat problems, it is because of Adobe Flash Player or a motherboard problem. Also, it can heat up due to using Secure Delete to empty the trash. Turn Secure Delete and/or Flash Player off, and you should be set.
Are you suggesting that $1000 macbook can't run flash without overheating?
I don't think the fella is saying it's overheating, he's just saying it'srunning hot! Flash really does need a lot of processing power and using flash enabled sites for a long time will make the MBA get hot and the fan to kick in.
you are correct, it was not overheating, it was just running very hot. Keep in mind that my Air is 3 years old (i believe it is the original Air). I did take it into the Apple Store and they fixed the problem free of charge, however i can't recall exactly what they did to correct the problem. Thanks all for your answers and suggestions!
