Final Cut Pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store

Just bought FCP X out of the App Store along with Motion and Compressor. Installed it and it is working.

Motion and Compressor lists as Installed in the App Store while FCP X lists as "INSTALL".

When i press "install" it get a message that says: "final cut pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the mac app store"

and also "Do you want to buy Final Cut Pro 10.0 again?".

This is 5 minutes after i´ve bought FCP X out of the App Store. What does this mean. It´s clearly a **** up.

Will i have trouble Installing it on my Mac Pro at the office? Will i not be able to reinstall if something goes wrong?

Stop wasting your time, its not worth putting in the effort, unless you want iMovie because that is what it is.

If you have installed the apps and they run OK then surely you don't have a problem?

Yes the app store thinks the app still needs to be installed but that's just a glitch - I get the same message relating to FCPX but the app works fine...well, it opens 😝

FYI, I did a software update (it installs 2 add-ins). I then restarted. Then in the search icon I entered final cut and then selected the program and it works.

Yeah, it works, but will the Mac App Store let you update from there when the time comes, since it thinks the software wasn't properly purchased?

I got the same message but when I click on the App Store Purchased tab it shows Final Cut Pro as purchased. Hope that means it will allow updates to be downloaded.

I can NOT find the application anywhere. I tried the software update, it says everything is up to date.

If I click on "BUY", I get the message "We could not complete your purchase. Final Cut is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the apple menu to check for available updates."

It might be masquerading as FCP 7. Instead of getting the new prism icon in the dock, my old FCP 7 one linked to FCP X. I had to drag it off and drag the right one on.

FCP X was in the Applications folder, and all my old versions had been moved automatically to a new folder called Final Cut Studio.
