Blacklist neighbor's open wifi?

I have a minor nuisance I'd like to deal with. Is there a way to certifiably blacklist / block a network, to not allow my computer to connect to it?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Go into the Network Preferences

Select AirPort on the left

Click the Advanced button

delete the network in question from the Preferred networks list

Check the box that says "Remember networks this computer has joined" (if it is already checked just leave it)

Click OK

Check the box that says "ask to join new networks"

Click "Apply"

Now it should ask you to Join that network if it sees it, make sure you do not allow it.

You should be good to go.

If you have previously connected your Mac to this network, you can remove the network from the previously connected network list.

System Preferences > Network. Select Airport followed by selecting Advanced.

Under the Airport tab, select and remove the network from the list.

Don't connect to this network after doing so. It will still appear as an available network to connect with, but don't select it to join.

Thanks, I should have said I've done that, yet my computer still occasionally hops over to it. Is there some prefs file or something that might be saving that list regardless of my edits in system prefs?

Connect to the network, then in your Syste Prefs > Network, move it to the bottom of the list of connection attempts, leaving yours first.

It's under the Airport tab, just click and drag theirs to the bottom.

But, then, if his/her own Network is, for some reason, unavailable, it will connect to the one he/she wants blacklisted.

Unchecking "Remember Networks this computer has joined," after editing out the unlocked one, but leaving his/her Network in "Preferred Networks" should do it. This solved a similar issue for me some time ago.
