Organize Library... without copying files

I installed the iTunes and want to have all my songs (16GB) organized in the iTunes. But as I understand iTunes just copies the files into its Music folder, so I'll have another 16GB of wasted space on my hard drive. Is there a way to create the library/list of my songs without copyint the real files into that Music folder?

thanks,

Sergio

Thank you for the answers.

I tried to copy the filenames with Shift, but it still copies the WMA files. Does it work for MP3 only?

What about the organizeing the library? When I go to File -> Library -> Organize Library, if I do not check the "Colsolidate files" checkbox the OK button is not active, but I suppose selecting the ckechbox will copy the files but not the filenames. Is it so?

thanks,

Sergio

i might be wrong which key to hold (not using winsloth). might be STRG. in any case, unchecking the

copy files ... when adding option would have the same effect, just remember to check it if you want to add media to your library.

this will work with any type of file !
