I bought iPhone 4 without contract and paid full amount can apple unlock it so that i can use it in Pakistan?

I bought iPhone 4 White from Apple Store, Oakridge without contract and paid full amount of $ 654.41. I thought by paying full amount i will get a unlocked version of iPhone 4 and use it in Pakistan but its locked by AT&T where its services are not available in Pakistan. So is there any way that i can unlock it and use it here in Pakistan. please help me i would be really great full to you??

Apple have only recently began to sell there phones without contracts in the US. If you bought one of these, and you have the receipt you have a few choices.

1. Return to the store and ask them why it is locked, and for them to replace it with an unlocked one, or unlock the one you have.

2. Visit an Apple reseller in Pakistan and try the above.

Other than that you have little options. If you are genuine, you'll get it sorted, if your not, you'll not be able to use in outside of the US.

If you want an unlocked iphone, visit a country that has an Apple store, and purchase one outright.

If you have bought one from AT&T it is not unlocked and they lied to you! The only recourse is to go back to them.

You will not find within this community, any body or way, to unlock a locked iphone.

But I am in Pakistan i cant return it and apple reseller dont sell iphones here in Pakistan, can i email them if yes then whats the email address?

There is currently no way to get any locked US iPhone officially unlocked. Your best bet is to sell your phone & purchase one you can use where you live. Only AT&T can authorize the official unlocking of your iPhone, but as of this date, AT&T does not offer unlocking for any iPhone and they have given no indication they will ever offer unlocking.

There is a difference between no contract and unlock. No conract means that you are not tied down for two years to AT & T. Unlock means that you could take your iphone and use it at any carriers you would like. It looks like you bought a no contract iphone but it is locked to AT & T.

Hi,

I live in Italy and had a similar problem with an iPhone I purchased in England. It took a lot of doing but eventually Apple exchanged it for an unlocked version. Probably because I kicked up a lot of fuss with their customer services and pointed out that I was misled when I purchased the phone. Also I read the contract from the network which was locking the phone and it said that they could lock it "in the united kingdom" and as I did not live in the UK they legally could not lock it. Anyway in the end both Apple and the carrier offered me a solution. My recommendation it not to give up with them especially if the iPhone is available unlocked in Pakistan as it is here in Italy.
