I have a Western Digital "My Book Studio". How?
The WD comes with WD Smartware, which I dont want. I'm using it with Time Machine. How can i delete The WD Smartware? Pulling it to the trash doesnt work.

It comes with a virtual CD that mounts when the drive does. Here's an article on how to remove.

I've haven't done this so no guarantee on how it works.

Yes, you apparently can get rid of the icon (though thats very cumbersome) but you cant erase the space on the Harddrive. Seems to me ridicoulos, no more WD for me.
you can get rid of the space, you just need to format the hard drive. Go into Disk Utility, choose the top volume (not the inset 'wd' titled one), click the 'erase' tab, make sure it's set to Mac OS extended Journaled, and then click erase.
That should erase the cd image and create a unified partition.
Thanks, I'm not at the machine right now, will try it later.
